Arun Roy Passes Away: Remembering a Legendary Bengali Filmmaker

Roy had been battling cancer for years. His health took a critical turn recently due to a severe lung infection, leading to his admission at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Kolkata. Despite the best medical efforts, he breathed his last in the early hours of Thursday.

Dr. Kinjal Nanda, the doctor treating Roy, confirmed his passing and shared a heartfelt tribute, stating, “Stay in peace, my Hiralal, just like the original Hiralal.” This emotional note referenced Roy’s iconic film Hiralal, a cinematic masterpiece that celebrated unsung heroes.

Arrangements for Last Respects

As per Dr. Nanda, Arun Roy’s body will be moved to his Haridevpur residence at 1 PM for a private viewing. Later, it will be placed at Technicians’ Studio, allowing his fans, colleagues, and the film fraternity to pay their final respects.
