Jason Momoa Cast as Lobo in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

Jason Momoa, best known for his portrayal of Aquaman in Warner Bros and DC films, has officially been cast as Lobo in the upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The confirmation comes after months of speculation linking Momoa to the iconic antihero role.

Momoa’s Longtime Desire to Play Lobo

Jason Momoa has previously expressed his enthusiasm for playing Lobo, a character he’s admired for years. Sharing his excitement on Instagram, Momoa reposted a screenshot from a past interview where he called the role “perfect” for him. Alongside it, he wrote, “They called,” confirming his casting in the film.

Momoa has been a fan of the DC Comics character for decades and, during interviews, openly expressed that playing Lobo would be a dream come true. “It’s a f*ck yeah,” he once said about the possibility of taking on the role.

Who Is Lobo?

Lobo is an infamous antihero from the DC universe, introduced in Omega Men #3 in 1983. Created by writer Roger Slifer and artist Keith Giffen, Lobo is a ruthless bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia. Known for his violent and irreverent personality, Lobo possesses superhuman strength, regenerative abilities, and near-invulnerability. He thrives in chaos and destruction, making him a beloved character among comic book fans.

About Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow

The new Supergirl film is based on Tom King’s 2022 comic series of the same name, with illustrations by Bilquis Evely. The storyline explores Supergirl’s journey through space as she navigates a complex mission of justice and vengeance.

    • House of the Dragon star Milly Alcock will play Supergirl.
    • Matthias Schoenaerts is cast as the villain Krem of the Yellow Hill.
    • Eve Ridley will portray Ruthye Mary Knolle.
  • Production Team:
    Craig Gillespie (I, Tonya) will direct the film from a script by Ana Nogueira. The project is produced by DC heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, with Chantal Nong as executive producer. Filming is set to begin on January 13, 2025.
