Acharya Kishore Kunal, Retired IPS Officer and Philanthropist, Passes Away

Retired IPS officer Acharya Kishore Kunal, founder of the Mahavir Mandir Trust and a revered figure in public service, passed away on Sunday morning following a cardiac arrest. Despite being rushed to a hospital, he could not be saved, his family confirmed.

Condolences from Leaders and Society

Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed his deep sorrow over Kunal’s passing, calling it an “irreparable loss to society.”

“He gave Mahavir Mandir a national identity and did unprecedented work for the upliftment of the weaker sections of society. His contribution is difficult to express in words,” Choudhary remarked.

A Career Marked by Excellence and Dedication

Kishore Kunal, an IPS officer of the 1972 batch, earned widespread respect for his exemplary service and dedication to social causes.

  • Leadership Roles:
    • He served as the chief of the Bihar State Board of Religious Trust (BSBRT).
    • Kunal was also a founding member of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir Trust, contributing to the temple’s historic revival.
  • Mahavir Mandir Trust: As the secretary of the trust, Kunal expanded its reach, establishing hospitals and launching welfare initiatives that benefited countless underprivileged individuals in Bihar.

Philanthropic Legacy

Kunal’s work with the Mahavir Mandir Trust remains his lasting legacy. Under his guidance, the trust undertook numerous projects, including:

  • Building hospitals to provide affordable healthcare.
  • Supporting education and welfare programs for weaker sections of society.

Deputy CM Choudhary summed up the collective grief, stating:
