Arjun Tendulkar Achieves Career Milestone with 50 White-Ball Wickets in Vijay Hazare Trophy

Arjun Tendulkar, the promising left-arm pacer and son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, reached a significant milestone in his career during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Representing Goa, Arjun completed 50 wickets in his white-ball career during a match against Odisha. While he went wicketless in Goa’s subsequent game against Haryana, he had taken three wickets in the earlier match against Odisha, showcasing his growing prowess on the field.

A Snapshot of Arjun’s White-Ball Career

  • Debut: Arjun made his T20 debut for Mumbai in 2021.
  • Total Matches: 41 white-ball games.
    • List A Matches: 17, with 24 wickets.
    • T20 Matches: 24, with 27 wickets.
  • Key Achievements:
    • Has recorded a four-wicket haul in both List A and T20 formats.
    • Recently re-signed by the Mumbai Indians during the IPL 2025 mega-auction.

First-Class Performance

In addition to his white-ball success, Arjun has made a mark in first-class cricket:

  • Matches: 17 first-class games.
  • Wickets: 37 dismissals, including one five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy.
  • Runs Scored: 532 runs, showcasing his all-round abilities.

Tendulkar Legacy

While Arjun has shown promise, his career path reflects both similarities and differences with his legendary father, Sachin Tendulkar:

  • Sachin Tendulkar’s Bowling Records:
    • 71 wickets in 310 first-class matches but no five-wicket hauls.
    • Achieved two five-wicket hauls in ODIs.
    • Concluded his white-ball career with 201 wickets in List A cricket and two in T20s.
  • Arjun, in contrast, has already recorded a five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy, a milestone his father did not achieve in first-class cricket.

Arjun’s Promising Path Forward

Arjun’s consistent performances in domestic cricket and IPL have solidified his position as a rising talent. As he continues to develop his skills, his contributions to both Goa and the Mumbai Indians are expected to grow, potentially paving the way for opportunities at the international level.

With a combination of hard work and talent, Arjun Tendulkar is carving his own niche while carrying the weight of the iconic Tendulkar name in Indian cricket.
