Suriya in Talks with Venky Atluri for His Next: Can This Film Redeem the Actor’s Stardom?
Suriya’s highly anticipated fantasy action film ‘Kanguva’ failed to meet expectations during its theatrical release, both commercially and critically. Despite generating buzz before its launch, the film faced backlash for its excessive audio levels and underwhelming performances, which hindered its success in theatres.
Amid the lukewarm reception, the makers of Kanguva have opted to advance the film’s OTT release to capitalize on streaming audiences. Amazon Prime Video has officially announced that Kanguva will premiere on the platform on December 8, 2024 initially it was 13th December.
The Hindi version will be released after an 8-week window from the theatrical debut, in line with industry norms.
To generate excitement for the OTT release, Prime Video unveiled an intriguing poster of Kanguva on its social media platforms. On Instagram, the poster was shared with the caption:
“A tale as old as time & a LEGACY that lives on. KANGUVA arrives to settle it all. #KanguvaOnPrime, Dec 8.”
This strategic move aims to recapture audience interest and highlight the film’s visual grandeur and fantasy elements that may resonate better with OTT viewers.
While Kanguva struggled to make an impact in theatres, its early release on Amazon Prime Video offers a second chance to reach a wider audience. With availability in multiple South Indian languages and the Hindi version to follow, Kanguva might attract viewers eager for high-budget fantasy action films. Whether it finds renewed success on OTT remains to be seen.
Mark your calendars for December 8 and catch Kanguva streaming on Amazon Prime Video!
