US President-elect Donald Trump has issued a strong warning to the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) regarding their plans to create a new currency that could challenge the US dollar’s dominance in international trade.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump declared that any attempt to replace the US dollar would not be tolerated. He warned that countries supporting such efforts could face 100% tariffs on their exports to the United States.
“The idea that BRICS countries are moving away from the US dollar while we just watch is OVER,” Trump stated. He added, “If these countries create a new BRICS currency or back another currency to replace the US dollar, they can say goodbye to selling into the US economy. They’ll have to find another sucker!”
Trump emphasized that the US dollar remains central to international trade and said any nation trying to replace it would face serious consequences, including losing access to the American market.
This statement highlights Trump’s firm stance on protecting the dollar’s global role and his readiness to take aggressive measures against any threats to its dominance.
